Stakeholder Engagement at Tokeh Peninsula: Expanding Access to Clean, Affordable Solar Energy

On 30th October, Go Green Solar Energy held a stakeholder engagement meeting in the Tokeh Peninsula community as part of our ongoing work under the ROGEAP initiative, supported by ECOWAS and the World Bank. The goal was simple but important: strengthen partnerships and raise awareness about expanding affordable off-grid solar solutions in rural areas that still lack reliable electricity.

Tokeh, like many coastal and rural communities, continues to face major challenges with energy access. Families often depend on costly generators, candles, or kerosene lamps, which limit productivity and pose safety risks. Bringing local leaders and community groups together was an important step toward changing this reality.

The engagement attracted a wide range of participants, including village heads, the chairlady, youth representatives, traders, religious leaders, and media houses such as AYV and SLBC. Their presence showed how much the community values new opportunities for clean and dependable power.

Our team introduced the community to the different solar options available, from household systems to larger solutions for businesses and public facilities. We discussed affordability, durability, and how solar can support education, health care, farming, and small enterprises. There was a strong interest in how pay-as-you-go models and grant-supported programs can help low-income families transition to clean power without financial strain.

Participants shared concerns about the high cost of electricity, the impact of poor lighting on security, and the need for reliable power for their children’s schoolwork and local businesses. Their feedback helps us shape future installations and ensure our solutions match real needs on the ground.

This engagement is one of several happening across the country as we work to increase off-grid solar adoption under ROGEAP. Each meeting brings us closer to a future where underserved communities have access to clean, safe, and affordable energy.

Go Green Solar Energy remains committed to working with local leaders, partners, and residents to make sustainable power a reality for every household. The response from Tokeh Peninsula was encouraging, and we look forward to moving from discussions to installations in the coming months.

Together, we can bring light to communities that have waited too long.
